In an online or hybrid class, most of your readings and assignments will be in PCC’s Learning Management System (LMS), CANVAS. You will need to make certain that you have access to a computer and stable 互联网 in order to complete your 课程. Typically, you will usually need to log in every 几天.

What technology do I need to take an online 课程?

It is best to have a desktop/laptop computer that is less than three years old and have one of 的 following operating systems: 

  • Windows 7 and newer
  • Mac OSX 10.10及以上版本
  • Linux - chromeOS

This is a list of basic computer system requirements to use Canvas. Canvas will still run with 的 minimum specifications, but you may experience slower loading times if 的 computer is not up-to-date. 

It is important that you have stable access to 的 互联网 in order to take an online 课程.  If you do not have 互联网 access, you can learn about options to access wireless internet on 的 PCC Remote Student information 页面.

Optimally, Canvas runs on desktop computers or laptops. 

Canvas supports 的 last two versions of every major browser. We highly recommend updating to 的 newest version of 的 browser on your computer, as well as 的 most up-to-date Flash plug-in.

Check to see if your web browser is up to date

The Canvas interface is designed to be used from web browsers on desktop computers 和笔记本电脑. Canvas does not work well using 的 web browsers found on mobile devices (e.g., phones or tablets). 

If you're going to access Canvas from a mobile device, we recommend that you download 的 Canvas mobile app for 的 best performance, functionality, and user experience.

For some 课程s, you may be required to have one or more plug-in application programs on your computer or laptop such as: 

Often, plug-in software is already present on your computer. Your instructor should provide 的 minimum plug-in requirements for your class.

For some 课程s, such as those using 变焦, you may be required to have access to computer peripherals such as:

  • 网络摄像头
  • 麦克风

Your instructor will let you know what is needed for your class.
